The Adult Speech and Language Therapy team assesses and diagnoses adults with speech, language, communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
We focus on what matters most to their lives. The person we are supporting is always at the centre of our care to promote their best quality of life.
In therapy we create and work towards social and functional goals with people.
Social goals are about connecting with others – like chatting with friends, joining conversations at work or enjoying a meal with friends.
Functional goals are about practical, everyday communication. These are things like asking for help, making appointments, or managing tasks at work. Functional goals for swallowing may include; safely eating and drinking, and reducing the risk of choking or food and drink going down the wrong way.
Our aim is always to help people live with more independence, confidence and safety.
