Western Bay Integrated Autism Service

About us

The Integrated Autism Service (IAS) supports autistic adults and the parents/carers of autistic children, young people and adults in Western Bay.  Western Bay includes Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend. 

Adults, parents, carers and professionals will be able to refer to the Integrated Autism Service.

The Integrated Autism Service provides direct support for autistic adults. We also provide advice, support and signposting for parent carers of autistic children, young people and adults.

Any adult can request an assessment if they think they have autism.

Autistic adults can access the service for:

  • support to understand Autism
  • post diagnostic course
  • short-term direct support
  • support to access other services which may include employment, education, health, leisure and recreational activities.

Professionals and other services can contact the IAS for:

  • consultation, advice and support, for example, with GP’s, universities, colleges, employers and leisure services.

The service will not provide:

  • direct work with children
  • emergency or crisis intervention
  • respite care
  • rapid response
  • diagnostic assessments for people under under 17 years and 9 months
  • prescription or monitoring medication
  • long-term input or care management.

Other services are available to help with these issues.

The Integrated Autism Service is unable to provide direct support to those already in receipt of care and support from services which include Secondary Mental Health, Learning Disability and Social Services.  In these instances the IAS will support the professionals working in these areas.

Staff within the Integrated Autism Service include:
  • Service Manager
  • Clinical Psychologist
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Speech and Language Therapist
  • Specialist Autism Practitioner
  • 4 Well-being Support Workers
  • Administrator
