As smokers frequently put their hands to their mouths, they could face a greater risk of contracting Covid-19.

Evidence also suggests that smokers who contract Covid-19 go on to develop more severe symptoms as smoking affects the immune system and its ability to respond to infections.

But since the outbreak there has been an increase in numbers of smokers trying to quit - an estimated 37,00 smokers in Wales.
