Which types of unpaid carers do not qualify under group 6?

Unpaid carers who support others solely with things like shopping, financial planning and visits to support emotional well-being, but can socially distance and wear PPE while doing so, will not be prioritised for vaccination.

Unpaid carers of children under 16 without complex medical needs / severe neuro disabilities or of adults not in the high risk groups, will also not be prioritised as part of group 6.

Young carers under 16 will not be offered the vaccination. No children under 16 are being vaccinated, unless in exceptional circumstances due to severe-neuro disabilities.

It’s important to remember that everyone over the age of 16 in the UK will be offered a COVID-19 vaccine by July 31st 2021. Including unpaid carers in group 6 is a way of making sure those who are most vulnerable to COVID-19 are protected from the virus as soon as possible, and that those who care for them are able to continue their support.
