Many of our mental health support needs can be met through our GP, Local Primary Mental Health Support Services (LMPHSS), self-help group, or through online therapy. These are sometimes called Tier O and Tier One services.
But some of us may require further support - Tier 2 and Tier 3 (Tertiary/Specialist Services).
Sometimes our needs warrant more intensive intervention from mental health and learning disability services.
In this case, care and treatment is often provided through Community Mental Health teams where we have staff from different disciplines working together to provide you with what you may need. We have:
COVID-19 has led to our community mental health teams providing some of our more routine care over the telephone and internet, using platforms like Attend Anywhere and Microsoft Teams.
We also provide inpatient care.
Our mental health inpatient wards provide a safe, caring, therapeutic service to people who need more intensive mental health care and treatment.
Our inpatient wards for adults of working age are currently based at Neath and Port Talbot Hospital and Cefn Coed Hospital.
Our older adult mental health wards are currently based at Tonna Hospital and Ysbryd Y Coed at Cefn Coed Hospital.
