Advocacy

As you are accessing mental health services you are entitled to independent advocacy support during your admission. Nursing staff will support you in making these referrals. These professionals are independent from Uned Gobaith and can support you in any ward meetings and ensure that your views and wishes are communicated.

If you have been detained under the Mental Health Act, advocacy support is provided by Advocacy Support Cymru and they can be contacted to support you further. Follow this link for the ASC website.

Smoking

The health board operates a ‘Smoke free policy’ on all its sites to protect everyone from the harmful effects of tobacco and second-hand smoke. Please go here for our stop smoking service if you require further support.

Phones and devices

Mobile phones and devices are permitted for use on the unit; however, confidentiality is an important part of our work, which must be maintained at all times. Please do not use your camera to take pictures of other people while on the unit or discuss the unit, staff or other patients on social media. We have access to Wi-Fi via The Cloud. As we are a regional service we also understand that you may be separated from your loved ones, so we have access to Ipads for video calling purposes, please ask a member of the team for more information.

Access to your records info

You have many rights when it comes to your health records as it is your personal information. For example you have the right to know how we will use your personal information, the right to see your health record, the right to object to us using your information for certain purposes, and the right to ask for your information to be changed or erased if it is factually incorrect. If you want to access your own clinical information, please contact the access to health records department by email: accesstorecords@wales.nhs.uk

We welcome correspondence and telephone calls in Welsh or English. Welsh language correspondence will be replied to in Welsh, and this will not lead to a delay. This page is available in Welsh by clicking ‘Cymraeg’ at the top right of this page.
