The Ospreys have paid festive flying visits to three Swansea Bay hospitals to chat to patients and deliver early Christmas presents.

Former Wales and British Lions flanker Justin Tipuric was joined by Keelan Giles as they spent time in Morriston Hospital’s renal department.

Dan Edwards and Reuben Morgan-Williams made a special visit to see neuro rehabilitation patients and Ward D in Neath Port Talbot Hospital, while Morgan Morris and Will Griffiths headed to the Radiotherapy department at the South West Cancer Centre in Singleton.

Reuben, who plays scrum-half for the Ospreys and Wales Under-20s, said: “We really enjoyed meeting the patients and staff and spending some time talking to them.

“It’s not easy being in hospital at this time of year, so it’s something we are really keen to do and it’s an important fixture in our calendar because the community means a lot to us.

“Hopefully we managed to put some smiles on the people we met and take their minds off being in hospital. We had good fun handing out the freebies and I think we’ve managed to convert a few people we met into Ospreys fans!”

Lewis Bradley, Swansea Bay Health Board Charity Support Manager, said: “We cannot thank The Ospreys enough for visiting all three of our hospital sites.

"It really brought a smile to patients and our staff across the departments.

"Christmas is a time for festive cheer, but we have to remember  there are patients who will be in hospital who may miss out so the visits really help their mental health and wellbeing."
