There are really two decisions to be made when thinking about CPR.
The clinical team will decide with you if they will offer you CPR treatment.
You and your healthcare team can discuss if you would be likely to benefit from trying CPR. Your wishes are very important in helping the doctors to make this decision.
If the clinical team believes that you might benefit from trying CPR, then you can decide whether you want to accept that offer of the treatment, CPR
If you and/or the clinical team decide that you should not have CPR then the decision will be documented in your notes on a form called 'Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation' (a DNACPR form). You will also be given a copy of the form.
Occasionally, the clinical team will not have an opportunity to discuss CPR/DNACPR with you. Talking about CPR early, and revisiting it as necessary, is helpful to ensure that your clinical team understands what is important to you.
Rydym yn croesawu gohebiaeth a galwadau ffôn yn y Gymraeg neu'r Saesneg. Atebir gohebiaeth Gymraeg yn y Gymraeg, ac ni fydd hyn yn arwain at oedi. Mae’r dudalen hon ar gael yn Gymraeg drwy bwyso’r botwm ar y dde ar frig y dudalen.
