Planning a pregnancy

Finding out you are pregnant

Have you recently found out you're pregnant? Did you know that you don't need to visit your GP surgery to access maternity care? Go here to register your pregnancy online

A midwife will contact you by telephone within 1-2 weeks of us receiving your referral to arrange your maternity booking appointment. This will include taking a full medical history to plan your maternity care. If you have not had a response by 14 days - please contact us on 01639 862103 so that we can check your contact details.

During your booking appointment, the midwife will discuss your pregnancy and your consent for ultrasound scans and blood tests. To ensure that you understand the choices for screening tests, please follow this link to the Public Health Wales website page with information for screening tests in pregnancy.

Also, please go here to watch the Public Health video on screening tests for Down’s, Edwards and Patau’s syndromes.

It is important that you review this information before your first appointment with your midwife.

Concerned during your pregnancy?

If you have a pregnancy-related concern before 20 weeks, please contact your GP or 111 out of hours, as soon as possible, for advice and guidance. You can also go here to the NHS website to find information on common pregnancy-related conditions.
