Am I in a high-risk category?

We are advising those who are at increased risk of severe illness from coronavirus (COVID-19) to be particularly stringent in following social distancing measures.

This includes the over 70’s and people with a chronic condition, such as neurological disorders.

There are some medications used to treat neurological conditions that put people at a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19. Please see the Government website for more information on who is at greater risk.

If you are taking drugs that reduce the effectiveness of your immune system, then you are at an increased risk. These drugs include:

  • Steroids such as prednisolone tablets;
  • Immune suppressant drugs such as azathioprine, methotrexate, cyclophosphamide, rituximab and mycophenalate
  • Certain MS drugs (see Neuro-Inflammatory information)

If you are at high risk, you should follow distancing guidance as advised by the UK government and monitor the government website for updates.

Go to the Public Health Wales website for all the latest on Coronavirus and stay-at-home guidance.
