I have a carer's ID card, does this mean I can have the vaccine?

Carers ID cards are available to people who provide a wide range of support for others in their lives. Even if you have a carer’s ID card, it may be that your situation does not satisfy the Welsh Government criteria and Green Book definition set out above.

It is very important that you use these as your guide in working out whether you should be prioritised for a COVID-19 vaccine under group 6, or receive it as part of another group.

Additionally, having a carer’s card or being part of a carer’s organisation does not mean the NHS will automatically know that you are an unpaid carer and invite you for vaccination.

Please remember that everyone over the age of 16 in the UK will be offered a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of July 2021.

Including unpaid carers in group 6 is a way of making sure those who are most vulnerable to COVID-19 are protected from the virus as soon as possible, and that those who care for them are unable to continue their support.
