Are all unpaid carers going to get a COVID-19 vaccine even if they don't meet the definition and criteria?

Everyone age 16 and over will be offered a COVID-19 vaccination in the UK. Qualifying under group 6 just means that some unpaid carers will have it a little sooner than they may have done if they were not a carer.

The definition and criteria have been put in place in part to make sure that unpaid carers in groups 7-9 or aged 16-49 who do not have underlying health conditions are prioritised sooner, as part of group 6.

The only unpaid carers who will not be offered a vaccine are child carers (under 16 years old). At present, there are no plans to vaccinate anyone under 16 years old because the risk of children being badly affected by COVID-19, if they catch it, is lower than adults.
