You can get free advice and treatment for many minor conditions through the Common Ailments Service. It covers:

  • Constipation
  • Dermatitis (acute)
  • Diarrhoea
  • Dry eye
  • Haemorrhoids

  • Indigestion/reflux
  • Ingrowing toenail
  • Intertrigo/ringworm
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Nappy rash
  • Oral thrush
  • Scabies
  • Sore throat/tonsillitis
  • Teething

  • Vaginal thrush

Discharge medicines review

After coming out of hospital, get a review of your medication with a pharmacist to discuss any new medicines and dose changes, possible side effects, interactions with other medicines and the best time to take them.

Sore Throat Test and Treat

This screens people for bacterial or viral throat infections and allows pharmacists to prescribe antibiotics or painkillers, respectively, if appropriate.

Stop smoking scheme

Community pharmacies now offer help to people trying to quit smoking. This scheme gives advice and motivation to people struggling to quite and provides a variety of nicotine replacement therapy to minimise the number of cravings they get.

Medical waste disposal

Patients can bring unwanted or used medication back to the pharmacy to be disposed of safely.
