This information has been developed by the All Wales Tissue Viability Nurse Forum 09/23.
If you have continence issues and have wet skin from urine or faeces, you are at greater risk of developing sore or broken skin.
You may already be using continence products such as absorbent continence pads to help contain the urine and faeces. However, you or your carer will still also need to cleanse and protect your skin to prevent it becoming sore.
If your skin becomes sore and/or broken, you need to inform a healthcare professional i.e. your GP, your nurse or a family member or carer as you may need to be given a different type of treatment.
