Introduction
On this page you will find information to support you if your child has received an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis and signposting to resources and services. Many of the resources and services can also be used by families of children with a learning disability.
Autism Early Years Group
This is a six week, post-diagnostic programme for parents/carers of autistic children to provide knowledge and advice.
This group is also an opportunity for parents/carers to connect with each other and meet a range of professionals.
Each session is delivered by health care staff and other agencies who provide ongoing support.
The aims
- To help parents/carers feel more informed about autism
- To help signpost parents/carers to other services
- To connect parents/carers of autistic children with others
- To support parents/carers with their self-care and wellbeing
The programme
- Week 1: Exploring autism and emotional wellbeing - Special Health Visitor
- Week 2: Sensory Information, - Occupational Therapist
- Week 3: Communication - Speech and Language Therapist
- Week 4: Understanding behaviour - Principal Clinical Psychologist
- Week 5: Food, eating and diet - Dietician
- Week 6: Third sector organisations (in person)

We currently deliver the group both online through Microsoft Teams and face to face.
- Guidance on how to join online will be shared with you once your place has been confirmed.
- Face to face will be in Hafan Y Mor and Neath Port Talbot children’s centres.
