Wales rugby star Jac Morgan has been perfecting his distribution skills through playing Father Christmas at Morriston Hospital.

Jac was responding to a request from his Ospreys sponsor, Swansea-based haulage firm A T Morgan and Son, to help hand out Christmas selection boxes on the hospital’s children’s wards.

Helen Morgan, wife of the firm’s founder, Stephen, explained the reason behind their generous gifts.

She said: “We are really thrilled to be doing this.

“Due to unfortunate circumstances Stephen lost his daughter, my step daughter, aged 12, to a brain tumour.

“After four and a half years of battling, visiting and living in hospitals, we are now at the stage where we can start giving back into the children’s ward.

“Bringing Jac round with selection boxes and seeing their faces light up is just fantastic. We are so pleased to be doing it.”

Jac Morgan said: “It was good to visit the children and give them their selection boxes. It’s great to see them smiling and enjoying. It’s been a brilliant day.”

Lisa Morgan, Lisa Morgan,  play coordinator at Morriston Hospital, said: “We would really like to extend our thanks to Jac Morgan and all at A T Morgan and Son, and for their continued support, taking the time to visit us to give out selection boxes to the children on the Childrens wards.

“It was amazing to see how many children's faces lit up with a smile and excitement when Jac entered the room, we had some avid fans of his so this visit was extra special. They were so pleased to have their picture taken with him and his signature.

“It was lovely seeing Jac chatting to all the children and especially the dads about rugby. He certainly brightened up the day for all the children in what can be such a clinical environment.

“Thank you from everyone on the children's wards.”

Cathy Stevens, community support officer for the health board’s charity, said: “The charity would like to thank A T Morgan and Son once again for their amazing fundraising efforts and generous gifts to the children.

“Also, thank you to Jac for taking time out of his busy schedule to spend time with our patients and staff.

“It was lovely to see so many smiling faces having photos and autographs.”
