We are committed to transparency and helping you plan your care.
Once you have been successfully referred by your GP, or another clinical referrer, to see a specialist hospital consultant you will go onto a waiting list for your first outpatient appointment.
We understand it can be frustrating not knowing exactly when you’ll be seen. However, if you contact us to ask where you are on the waiting list, or how long you will have to wait, we cannot give you this information precisely. This is because waiting lists are dynamic and change daily as patients are added and removed.
However, while we can’t predict exactly how long you will wait to be seen, you may be able to get a general indication from the figures in the table below. We aim to update this information monthly.
The recent waiting times listed below reflect the longest time patients were waiting for each service for their first hospital outpatient appointment. As these were the longest times, bear in mind that some patients were seen sooner than this.
Also, from time-to-time unforeseen circumstances - like staff sickness - could also add to future wait times.
Please note that the waiting times for people who are referred with a suspicion of cancer are not included here, as these patients have their own pathway times.
