Magnetic Resonance Physicist
Siwan completed the scientific training programme (STP) in September 2023 as the first trainee clinical scientist in Wales to specialise in non-ionising radiation, and joined the MR Physics team as a HCPC registered clinical scientist in October 2023. Prior to this, Siwan completed her MPhys at the University of Manchester in 2019 where she researched zincblende InGaN/GaN quantum wells.
Clinical research is an area Siwan wishes to be closely involved with during her career. Her master’s project focused on the use of deep learning reconstruction algorithms to reduce scan time and improve quality of diffusion-weighted imaging and diffusion kurtosis imaging for whole body imaging. Safely implementing innovative techniques such as deep learning is something Siwan is passionate about and she will continue with this work as part of her role as an MRI Physicist.
