Congratulations on the birth of your new baby!
We would love to celebrate your new arrival by sharing a picture on our social media account (Facebook). We may also use these pictures on our website and possibly other places like, our annual report.
Please note that pictures may be requested for press and media use.
There is no pressure to take part at all.
Sharing your own pictures
Email pictures of your baby to SBU.BayBabies@wales.nhs.uk. When sending an email, please include your baby’s name, weight at birth, birthday, home location and where they were born (Singleton or Neath Port Talbot Hospitals).
Health board photographs
We may have a member of the health board visit ward 20 (postnatal ward) to take pictures of the babies (with parental consent). These photographs will be posted to social media soon after.
Social Media
Your baby’s picture will be posted on the main health board social media channels and SBUHB Maternity Service’s Facebook and Instagram channels.
You can tag us in your pictures on your own social media accounts by using @swanseabayuhb on Instagram or @swanseabayNHS on Facebook.
Why? Images and/or videos of patients, parents/guardians, relatives or staff are sometimes used to promote the work of our hospitals, clinics and services.
Who uses this? The images or videos may be used by the health board or by the press and media.
Where will they go? These will be in the public domain and will be on the internet, which means they can be widely viewed.
The range of places they could be used include social media, e.g. Facebook, Instagram etc, websites, newsletters or annual reports, online news sites or newspapers/magazines. Note: not all images/information may appear on every site or be used at all.
Can I change my mind? Yes, you can withdraw consent at any time. But please be aware that while we are able to delete images, video and information from our own website and social media sites, we have no control over items which are already in the wider public domain/internet.
Should you wish to withdraw consent so please contact the health board’s communications team: communications.department@wales.nhs.uk. Withdrawing your consent at any time will not affect your relationship with the health board.
Additional Information
- All photographs and video footage held by the health board will be used in an appropriate context. We will keep them indefinitely or until you rescind consent.
- All images, video footage and stories which are held by the health board are used to positively promote our work, aims and values.
- Your data will be stored electronically in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016.
- However, the health board is not responsible for images or videos which may be taken or used by any external organisation.
