Urgent Primary Care Centres

Welcome to the page for the Urgent Primary Care Centres (UPCC)

Skip straight to who is an appropriate patient?

Skip straight to how to make a referral and contact details.

  • Where do we work and how?

There are two Urgent Primary Care Centres open Monday to Friday between 10am and 6.30pm, excluding bank holidays.

They are an interface between general practice (GP) and the Emergency Department (ED) to ensure an effective filter of all urgent primary care-related cases.

For patients who need to see a clinician on the same day, but who are not an emergency needing to be seen in the Emergency Department (ED).

UPCCs also act to filter urgent patients identified by GPs which cannot be absorbed into their daily workload, but who require urgent on-the-day treatment.

    • Referral pathways into the centres:
      1. GPs within SBU Clusters
      2. ED in Morriston
      3. MIU in NPT
      4. 111 contact first
      5. 111 clinical hub
      6. Paramedics at scene
      7. WAST Stack review
      8. Community Pharmacists
      9. Pre-Hospital and COPD Pathway
    • All referrals are triaged by UPCC clinicians and patients will either be given advice, a prescription to pick up, or a face-to-face appointment in one of the two centres.
