Lighthouse Children and Young Person's Weight Management Service

The psychologist in the Lighthouse children’s weight management service works closely with the team to support young people and families. The Lighthouse team also includes support from an assistant psychologist, a dietician, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, paediatrician and support staff.

Not everyone referred to the service will meet with the psychologist, but if you would like this support then you will be invited to an appointment to discuss your concerns and agree together on the next steps.

The psychologist aims to support with your weight management journey, which might include support to make lifestyle changes; managing worries and difficult emotions related to body image and food; supporting with self-esteem and confidence; supporting parents/carers/staff to help young people. If the psychologist identifies that another service could be more helpful to support your situation, then they will discuss this with you and make a referral.

If you would like support from the Lighthouse Service then you can contact us and make a self-referral by emailing SBU.lighthouse@wales.nhs.uk or phoning 01639 683142.
