About Me

Clinical Psychologist

Hey, my name is Owen.

I am a Clinical Psychologist and since qualifying from Cardiff University I have been working with children and young people. Currently, I am working in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), partially in the Psychology and Psychological Therapies team, and partly in the Eating Disorders team.

The focus of our service's work is to support children, young people and their families when they are distressed or experiencing difficulties with their mental wellbeing. I like to include the system around the young person, which can include their families and schools, to ensure they are supported across different environments.

When people come to meet me, our first few sessions might include a lot of questions. This is to help me understand what is going on for the young person and provide me with a window into their world. After this, I aim to use my knowledge of multiple different psychological models of therapy to meet the needs of the young person I am working with.

Therapy can feel daunting, but I will do my best to make it feel easier wherever I can. This might mean that we spend time talking or we could be drawing (showing off my awful stick figures), playing games, going for walks, or doing something else that is a little bit fun. Also, I welcome people asking me any questions that may come to mind.
