To celebrate International Women’s Day 2026, we’re launching our new Women’s Health Hub webpage to help women of all ages across Swansea Bay get help and advice at their fingertips.
The new online page covers a wide range of topics including:
But the new webpage is just only one piece of the work we are doing to improve women’s health services in Swansea Bay.
The launch of the Women’s Health Plan for Wales in December 2024 was a significant step towards reducing health inequalities and improving outcomes for women in Wales. The plan set out a clear ambition to create a health and care system that listens to and works for all women across the life course.
In June 2025 we started an ambitious programme to strengthen the capability and confidence of our workforce to respond more effectively to women’s health concerns at every stage of life and listening compassionately to women.
We’ve embarked on a programme of education and upskilling of our medical nursing, allied professional, and pharmacy staff across our hospitals and primary care. High numbers of staff from all disciplines have now received training to improve the access and support that women receive.
We’ve also collaborated with women’s health-specific voluntary groups in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot to complete groundwork mapping of networks, identify community support groups and build in mechanisms for support going forward.
We will expand on this work over the coming year to develop a Swansea Bay Network of Women’s Voices forum. Mapping will be completed by the end of March and engagement has been excellent with women eager to tell us their experiences.
The way some of our services are offered is changing, for example we’re remodelling uro-gynae physiotherapy support so it is available in local communities via primary care rather than in hospital.
We are improving access for women requiring education, advice, assessment and intervention for uro-gynae health. We have created accessible education resources and clear signposting for endometriosis, menopause and ante/postnatal care.
We are working with the Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Councils for Voluntary Services increase access to all health activity options across Swansea Bay, particularly targeting those with greatest health needs.
So there’s a lot going on in this space – we’ll keep you updated as new developments come on board, so keep an eye out for it!
