Contraceptive pills - free three-month supply direct from pharmacies

pharmacist with woman

Women across Swansea Bay can access a free three‑month supply of the progesterone only contraceptive pill directly from any community pharmacy. This service helps prevent unintended pregnancies whilst you arrange a longer‑term contraception plan from your GP or sexual health services.

Who Can Use It?

Any woman seeking contraception can ask for this service at your local pharmacy— there is no need to wait to be offered it.

How It Works
  • A consultation is carried out in private in the pharmacy (pharmacies have their own small consultation rooms)
  • The pharmacist assesses:
    • Eligibility criteria
    • BMI
  • You may be sign-posted to the sexual health services if needed, including STI screening
  • A summary of the consultation is also sent to your GP to ensure continuity of care

Rydym yn croesawu gohebiaeth a galwadau ffôn yn y Gymraeg neu'r Saesneg. Atebir gohebiaeth Gymraeg yn y Gymraeg, ac ni fydd hyn yn arwain at oedi. Mae’r dudalen hon ar gael yn Gymraeg drwy bwyso’r botwm ar y dde ar frig y dudalen.

We welcome correspondence and telephone calls in Welsh or English. Welsh language correspondence will be replied to in Welsh, and this will not lead to a delay. This page is available in Welsh by clicking ‘Cymraeg’ at the top right of this page.
