Enrich your foods

You can add extra nutrition to foods and drinks by enriching them with nutrient dense ingredients. Here are some examples:

  • Butter, mayonnaise, olive oil or salad cream – add to sandwiches, potatoes, yams and salads
  • Cheese or ground nuts – add to soups, mashed potatoes, vegetables, pasta dishes, curries
  • Cream or condensed milk – add to puddings
  • Dried skimmed milk powder – add to custard, milk puddings, "cream of" soups, porridge, mashed potato
  • Lentils or pulses – add to soups and stews
  • Olive, sesame, coconut oil – add to pastas, salads or use when cooking
  • Peanut butter, nut butters, jams, golden or maple syrup – add to bread, cereal, puddings
  • Sugar, jam, honey or milk powder – add to porridge, breakfast cereals or puddings

If you follow a plant-based diet you could include Quorn©, tofu or soya meat products.
