Speech and Language Therapy Services - overview

Our Speech and Language Therapy team consists of Speech and Language Therapists, Assistants and Administrators.

Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) are allied health professionals.  We have been trained to assess, diagnose, treat and advise people who have difficulties with speech, language and communication, or with eating, drinking and swallowing disorders.  

We work with adults, children and their families and carers, as well as a range of other professionals across Health, Education, Social Care and Voluntary sector.

Where do the Speech and Language Therapy team work?

The Speech and Language Therapy team are able to provide virtual appointments and also work within the following settings:

  • Playgroups and nurseries.
  • Primary and Secondary mainstream schools
  • Special Schools
  • Child development centres
  • Community health centres
  • Hospitals
  • Rehabilitation units
  • Nursing and residential homes
  • Client’s own homes

  • Specific Speech, Language and Communication Impairments and Disorders.
  • Difficulties with eating, drinking and swallowing (Dysphagia)

  • Social Communication/Interaction needs
  • Voice Disorders
  • Trans and gender diverse voice and communication support
  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication needs (communication aids)
