Outreach and Clinical Librarian Service

Outreach

Outreach means you do not have to come to the library, we will bring the library service to you.

For staff working in hospitals, the community or primary care, visiting your local NHS Library can be a challenge. To make it easier to access our services and to get the information you want - wherever you are in the SBU area - ask us to visit your workplace to discuss your information needs and provide individual or group training sessions .

We can help with:

  •    How to view online books
  •    Accessing ejournals or sending the full text of articles to your inbox
  •    Literature searching - we can carry out searches for you, or show you how
  •    Current awareness - have the latest research for your specialist area sent to your inbox
  •    Accessing traditional library services, such as book loans and Inter-library loans, remotely
  •    NHS Wales Open Athens registration - an account will give you access to all of our  subscription-only services

Clinical Librarian Service

What is a clinical librarian?

A clinical librarian works closely with departments to provide information at the point of need.

Do you attend meetings where clinical queries arise but are not properly answered? Are you involved in clinical audit or other quality improvement initiatives and want some information support or to find out whether something has been done elsewhere and whether it worked? Working on new guidelines or research and need to ensure that your literature review is thorough and of good quality?

Find out how I can help: Betsy Morgan, Tel: 01792 703131

Ask me to attend

I can attend departmental meetings, clinical audit, research groups - anywhere where clinical queries are likely to crop up - on a regular or ad hoc basis for particular projects. I can even be part of a ward round to check the latest guidelines and policies or undertake more in depth literature searches for complex cases.
